Why should I contribute my learning objects to LINK?
Why should I contribute my learning objects?
Well, the short answer is that "librarians love to share", but here are a few more specific reasons:
- sharing your learning objects means they will reach and benefit the largest possible audience of students -- more impact for all the hard work you put into creating the LO
- you will help your colleagues by saving their time
- you will inspire your colleagues with your content and methods, and help them develop as teachers and professionals
- you will help us further develop a culture of sharing in our profession

Is my work good enough to share?
Many of us worry that our documents, guides, or resources may not be “good enough” or have value for our colleagues. It may be useful to remember that your work has helped your own students and faculty. It will be of great benefit to your colleagues who are faced with producing the same kinds of documents not to have to start from the very beginning when creating their own resources. ALPS LINK will succeed through your contributions and participation!

What can I contribute?
LINK may contain any learning object which a librarian has created to assist in her or his instructional duties. These might include:
- a database guide
- a lesson plan for a workshop
- any handouts distributed to students in that workshop
- a print or online guide on citing, plagiarism, or research techniques
- an animated tutorial on a database
- a WebCT tutorial on research skills
- ... and so on.
Pretty well any kind of instructional material a librarian creates is fair game for this repository.

Do I have to 'maintain' my contributions?
If you can, that would be wonderful, but it's not required. We ask that anyone who uses and adapts your object upload their version to LINK. Hopefully the community will take over the maintenance of popular objects and guides.
